OMG what a difference a year makes. God has been good to me. I have been fortunate enough to make so many friends this past year. Real people that fish and carve decoys and birds, salt of the earth people that I can trust and depend on for support, wonderful adventures and opportunities.
I am leaving in a few days to visit my best guy friend Gary Hull and his girlfriend LeeAnn. Gary and I are fishing sturgeon on Rainy River. Hopefully LeeAnn will be off work and can join us. A little bird told me that my custom motorcycle builder “Short” is going to fish with me on Friday. WOOOO HOOO!!!! I cant wait… Now we can catch walleyes and talk custom motorcycles!!!!! How about that sweet 70’s HD Sportster sitting in your shop Short? Kick start might be kind of sexy! LOL!
I really hope to get a giant sturgeon like my friend carver, Joe Fulton. He was fishing five minutes last season in May 2011 and he got one… Just that fast…. Talk about being at the right place at the right time. Is there anything better than fishing? Right now I cant think of anything.
I sure hope someday I can afford that little log home on the lake. It would be fun to be a guide on Lake of the Woods. Something about that lake is magical. I love northern Minnesota. I used to think Brainerd was the answer but Brainerd has turned into just another city. A fishing guide told me that most of the lakes have been picked clean of any large fish. Over harvesting, no stocking, greedy people. Natural Resources need to be managed properly. That is one nice hing about Lake of the Woods. They have slot limit protection on the breeding fish.
Many of my fishing friends will not agree with my position on that, but is my honest opinion. So what fabulous plans do you have for this weekend? Are you and your honey going fishing? Camping? Traveling? Send me your best photos and I will post them on my site.
